Here’s our top picks for some of the best drinking spots that Suffolk has to offer – all are within a reasonable taxi drive back to Damerons Farm – perfect!
Aurora
The Tented Building, Helena Road, Ipswich, IP3 0BT
One of the most popular spots for a drink; Aurora is a based in a lovely location – Ipswich Marina. Enjoy drinks outside whilst watching the sunset over the water, or get comfortable in the contemporary, stylish cocktail lounge – whichever setting you choose, Aurora has an extensive selection of drinks and cocktails on offer.
Isaacs
7 Wherry Quay, Ipswich, IP4 1AS
Another Marina spot – well known amongst football fans for prime match watching with an atmosphere. There are four bars at Isaacs, all stocked with your usual premium spirits, fine wines and soft drinks. Isaacs also own Briarbank Brewery so you will find a selection of ales from there to try too. The Cocktail Bar is open from 4pm on Fridays and Saturdays during the summer months. Check the website for the events they will be showing on the big-screens.
The Moloko
8 Lion Street, Ipswich, IP1 1DQ
A new addition to Ipswich in 2021; The Moloko is a stylish, modern cocktail bar. Whilst the decor is super trendy, the spot itself is designed to be informal and sociable – a relaxed atmosphere where all can feel comfortable. The Moloko does also offer small plate dining – tapas style – cooked and served to your table as they come, not all together, to completed the chilled vibe. Check their calendar for events and live music & DJ sets.
The Forge Kitchen
1-3 Duke Street, Ipswich, IP3 0AE
The Forge Kitchen is first and foremost, a restaurant, however after a recent visit I decided it needed to be added to this list because the drinks menu was one of the best I have seen in Ipswich for uniqueness. The Forge Kitchen boast their own speciality cocktails like Camomile & Elderflower Collins, Lychee & Coconut Sour and Rosé Sangria, whilst maintaining plenty of the classics we know and love. Try the Smoking Teapot, and have your phone ready – it’s definitely Instagram-able!
Arcade Street Tavern
1 Arcade Street, Ipswich, IP1 1EX
One of the very few, drinking only spots in Ipswich; Arcade Street Tavern is a great spot for beer enthusiasts – at any one time, they stock around 120 beers, made up of cask, keg, bottles and cans. The gin menu is equally as vast, and the count is around 110 on offer at the moment too – they have a small, but nice gin & Prosecco cocktail menu if you fancy something a little different. Check the website for upcoming events as they do host a ‘Street Food Friday’ so you can get some grub to accompany your drinks.
A Listers – The Riverside
QuaySide, Woodbridge, Suffolk, IP12 1BH
If you’re a fan of Channel 4’s Hotel Inspector then you may know who Andy Lister is – he has taken on the space within the restaurant at The Riverside, and turned it into a new concept bar known as ‘A Listers’. The cocktail menu is smaller, but has all of the best-loved classics and a decent wine selection. There’s a fun ‘Box of Shots’ offer – think mini cocktail as opposed to your usual single spirit shot.
